Finland’s booming nail salon industry is facing allegations of exploitation, with insiders claiming that many Vietnamese-owned salons are involved in illegal practices including selling jobs for tens of thousands of euros.
Bao, a Vietnamese man with years of experience in the trade, told Finnish broadcaster Yle that nail salons have increasingly become a front for other business activities. “I want to speak out because this is unfair to everyone trying to work legally,” he said. Bao spoke anonymously, fearing retribution from within the Vietnamese community.
