Today marks the busiest job search day of 2025

According to Duunitori’s forecast, the most popular job search day of 2025 is Monday, 3 February 2025.

Job seekers in Finland have been highly active in January. Data from Duunitori indicates that today marks the busiest job search day of the year. Increased job-seeking activity this year is linked to worsening employment figures.

Between 1 and 29 January 2025, nearly 21 million job searches were conducted on Duunitori, a 55% increase from the same period last year.

During this time, job listings were clicked through approximately 1.3 million times, up 60% from the previous year. Clicking through a job listing refers to interactions with the “Apply for job” button or other related links.

Projections suggest that job search records will be broken this year. Based on current data, Monday, 3 February 2025, is expected to be the most active job search day.

Lotta Viljamaa, Duunitori’s recruitment and communications manager, attributes the surge to declining employment prospects. “Recent news about restructuring and layoffs has naturally driven job seekers to be more active than before,” she said.

Job search trends in 2024 show that people clicked through job listings 6.1 million times, a significant increase from the previous year. January, February, and March were the busiest months for job searching, while May, June, and July were the slowest.

Early-year job search peaks have been a recurring trend. While another increase is typically observed after the summer holidays, it is not as pronounced as in the first months of the year. The busiest job search day in recent years has often fallen on a Monday between late January and early February.

Viljamaa points to several reasons for the early-year surge. “The most active recruitment periods typically follow major holiday seasons. Many people considering a job change gain perspective during their time off and return with renewed energy to explore new opportunities,” she explained.

Another factor in the January–February peak is summer job recruitment. Although some employers begin hiring for summer positions as early as November, most openings are posted at the start of the year.
