The Finnish Aviation Union has announced a new planned walkout at Helsinki Airport, adding to a growing list of strike dates that are likely to disrupt air traffic this month.
The latest work stoppage is scheduled for Friday 25 July and will last four hours. It follows earlier strike warnings already issued for 16, 18, 21 and 23 July. The news was published by the National Conciliator’s Office on social media.
While specific companies affected by the 25 July action have not been named, the office said multiple firms would be involved.
The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU), representing airport ground staff, has been in a prolonged dispute with the Service Sector Employers association (Palta) over wage increases. The conflict began in January and has seen repeated strikes throughout the year.
A recent four-hour stoppage on Monday led Finnair to cancel around 100 flights, affecting the travel plans of approximately 7,200 passengers.
Negotiations between the union and employers have been under compulsory mediation since spring. The National Conciliator described the current state of talks as “difficult”. Further mediation efforts are expected to resume on Saturday 12 July.
