Train services between Helsinki and Turku have been cancelled for more than five weeks due to major track work.
The suspension began on Monday and will continue until 27 July. During this period, buses will replace trains between Helsinki Central Railway Station and Karjaa.
The disruption is linked to an upgrade of the Espoo railway segment. Authorities are expanding the section between Leppävaara and Kauklahti from two tracks to four.
The upgrade aims to increase commuter rail capacity in the area.
The project forms part of a larger infrastructure plan expected to conclude in 2029.
Passengers using the route between Helsinki and Turku will be required to switch to road transport for the duration of the closure. VR, Finland’s national railway operator, is providing replacement buses to maintain service.
The track closure affects one of Finland’s key intercity routes. The Helsinki-Turku line supports daily commuter and long-distance traffic between the capital region and the southwest.
