Helsinki Airport has been awarded the title of best airport in Europe in the 15–25 million passenger category, according to the annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey conducted by Airports Council International (ACI). The recognition is based on passenger evaluations of customer experience across 400 airports in 95 countries.
This marks the sixth time in the past seven years that Helsinki Airport, operated by Finavia, has received the ASQ Award.
“We are proud that our continuous work to improve the customer experience is being recognised internationally. Passenger satisfaction has increased steadily, and this year’s results are the highest in the airport’s history,” said Ulla Serlenius, Helsinki Airport Director at Finavia.
Finavia has undertaken major renovations at Helsinki Airport, including upgrades to the Departures hall, security control, shopping and dining areas, Arrivals hall, parking, and the travel centre. Recent improvements include renovated lounges in the Schengen gate area and the addition of a hair salon and pharmacy in the Arrivals hall.
To enhance the digital experience, Finavia has introduced the free MyFlight service, which provides personalised travel tips, and is piloting an online security control queue time prediction tool.
“Helsinki Airport is among the world’s best in customer experience, and this award reflects passengers’ satisfaction with our upgrades. We will continue improving our services by responding to passenger needs and industry trends,” Serlenius said.
The ASQ survey measures customer satisfaction across 30 service categories, including wayfinding, check-in, security, shopping, and dining. Each year, around 4,000 passengers are interviewed at Helsinki Airport as part of the survey.
“My thanks go to the entire airport community. A world-class customer experience is built together, and the contribution of every employee is essential,” Serlenius added.
