The Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) has launched a renewed version of its website, syke.fi, offering a more user-friendly platform for accessing environmental research, open data, and expert insights. The updated site brings together Syke’s work on sustainability transformation, making it easier for users to explore research areas, find relevant experts, and access environmental tools.

The new syke.fi features enhanced usability and a modernised design, aiming to improve readability and the discoverability of information.

The renewal was based on feedback from active users, ensuring that the platform meets the needs of media professionals, researchers, research funders, international partners, decision-makers, and public administration officials.

According to Kirsi Norros, Syke’s communication director, the updated website better reflects Syke’s current operations and focus areas. She hopes the site will provide stakeholders and partners with an engaging view of Syke’s work in sustainability transformation.

The renewed syke.fi offers a comprehensive re, which provides reliable environmental research, marinefinland.fi, focused on Baltic Sea data, and waterinfo.fi, which covers water-related information.

The renewal of syke.fi is part of a broader update to Syke’s online services, running from 2022 to 2025. The new site offers a visually refreshed experience, improved navigation, and a more structured content layout.

The platform will continue to expand, especially with updates to its Swedish and English language pages. Visitors are encouraged to give feedback through the online feedback form, helping Syke further refine the service.

The technical implementation and user interface renewal were carried out in collaboration with Wunder Finland Oy.
