				Yle to cut 309 jobs following funding reduction

Yle, Finland’s national public broadcaster, will reduce its workforce by 309 employees as part of a cost-saving programme. Of these reductions, 156 positions will be terminated through layoffs.

The decision follows a September 2024 ruling by a parliamentary working group to cut Yle’s funding. In response, Yle initiated restructuring negotiations in November 2024, covering 1,798 permanent employees. Initially, up to 375 layoffs were anticipated.
