A series of large-scale running events will bring tens of thousands of participants and temporary traffic disruptions to central Helsinki throughout May and June.

The largest event, Helsinki City Running Day, takes place on Saturday 17 May and will affect traffic particularly in Töölö and along Mannerheimintie. Runners will pass through Töölönlahti, Baana, Ruoholahti, Lauttasaari, Kaskisaari, Lehtisaari, Kuusisaari, Pikku Huopalahti and Meilahti. The event hub is located at the Olympic Stadium, with routes starting on Mäntymäentie.

As part of the event, Mannerheimintie (from the Opera House to Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu) and Helsinginkatu (between Mannerheimintie and Sturenkatu) will be temporarily closed. Mäntymäentie will remain closed from 17 to 18 May. Movement along Baana will be restricted between 9:45–10:00 and 14:30–15:30. Traffic officers will direct pedestrians and cyclists to alternate routes.

On the same weekend, Friday 16 May, the Yritysmaratonviesti will take place in the Kaivopuisto and Meripuisto areas, affecting pedestrian and cycling routes.

Later in the month, the Swedish-speaking school relay carnival Stafettkarnevalen will be held at the Olympic Stadium on 23–24 May. Temporary restrictions will be in place around the stadium, the Swimming Stadium, Winter Garden, and Eläintarha Park due to cross-country relays.

On Saturday 24 May, Naisten Kymppi will cause further traffic changes. The race begins and ends at Kansalaistori, with starting waves running from 13:00 to 13:40 and finishers expected between 13:40 and 16:00. The 10 km route includes Töölönlahdenkatu, Baana, Mechelininkatu, Hietaniemenkatu, Salmisaarenranta, Lauttasaarensilta, Tammasaarenranta, Ruoholahdenpuisto, and Kansalaispuisto.

In early summer, the Helsinki Half Marathon will take place on Saturday 7 June. The event centre is located in Meripuisto, with the race beginning and ending in the surrounding area.

Organisers advise residents, visitors, and commuters to check event and public transport websites for detailed information on traffic arrangements and public transport changes.
