Weather conditions across Finland are forecast to become increasingly warm over the coming days, with temperatures expected to exceed the 25°C mark in several regions by the weekend.
Meteorologist Elina Suorsa said on Wednesday that weather will move from “warm” to “hot” as the week progresses. Most of the country is expected to experience sunny conditions, though southern and central areas could see scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Temperatures are forecast to reach or surpass the 25°C threshold, Finland’s definition of hot weather, by Saturday. Some areas are expected to hit 27°C on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute warned that high temperatures combined with humid air could create conditions favourable for strong thunderstorms, particularly in southern parts of the country.
Despite the risk of localised storms, weather is expected to remain generally dry and warm through next week.
