Helsinki residents will have continued access to essential health and social services during the May Day holiday, the city announced on Tuesday.

Health centres across the city will operate with reduced hours, closing at 16:00 on Wednesday 30 April and remaining closed on Thursday 1 May.

Residents seeking health advice or guidance during the holiday can use the Omaolo symptom checker at omaolo.fi, which provides 24/7 self-assessment and recommendations.

Alternatively, they may call the city’s health service helpline at 09 310 10023.

For urgent medical needs, adults aged 16 and over are advised to first use Omaolo or call the national helpline at 116 117 before visiting a clinic. Emergency care for adults is available at Meilahti Emergency Clinic on Paciuksenkatu 3 and Malmi Emergency Clinic on Talvelantie 6 J. Residents can also seek care at Jorvi Hospital in Espoo (Turuntie 150) or Peijas Hospital in Vantaa (Sairaalakatu 1) if necessary.

Children and adolescents will be treated at New Children’s Hospital, located at Stenbäckinkatu 9.

Emergency dental services will operate at Puistosairaala (Stenbäckinkatu 11) from 14:00 to 21:00 on 30 April and from 8:00 to 21:00 on 1 May. For overnight dental emergencies, Meilahti Emergency Clinic will provide care. Residents should call 09 471 71110 or 116 117 before arriving.

Social and crisis emergency services will remain fully operational throughout May Day, available around the clock. Residents can contact the social emergency service at 020 696 006 or the crisis emergency service at 09 310 44222.

In the event of a life-threatening situation, the emergency number 112 should always be used.
