The Finnish Aviation Union plans to escalate industrial action in July, threatening further disruption to Finnair flights.
Mediation between the union and the employers’ group Palta has not produced an agreement, according to the National Mediator’s Office. Talks are scheduled to continue on Friday and possibly over the weekend.
The union has announced seven strike dates.
Work stoppages are planned for Wednesday and Friday next week, and Monday 7 July. Additional strikes are set for 16, 18, 21 and 23 July.
The walkouts are expected to affect baggage handling and ground services. Finnair operates primarily out of Helsinki Airport, where the disruptions are likely to be concentrated.
Due to previous strikes, Finnair has already cancelled close to 1,000 flights in recent months. The airline has warned that further action could lead to more cancellations and delays.
The core of the dispute centres on terms of employment and working conditions. Neither the union nor Palta has released details of the ongoing negotiations.
