Finnair will cancel around 50 flights on Monday 2 June due to a work stoppage at Helsinki Airport, the airline confirmed on Sunday.

The disruption is linked to an ongoing labour dispute between the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) and employer organisation Palta, which has triggered a series of strikes and walkouts in the aviation sector since January.

Monday’s industrial action will see ground service employees stop work for four hours. Finnair said the stoppage will affect around 3,600 passengers.

The airline is contacting affected passengers by email or SMS. Customers will be offered alternative bookings or full refunds.

Finnair also warned of possible baggage handling delays and advised Monday travellers to check in online, arrive early, and carry essential items in their hand luggage.

The union and employer group have not reached a settlement after months of talks. While most aviation personnel have accepted pay deals aligned with general agreements in other sectors, the IAU continues to press for higher wage increases.

The union has also announced another strike for Wednesday 4 June. Finnair said it expects further disruption and will provide an update on Monday.

The latest cancellations follow a similar wave of disruption on Friday, when Finnair cancelled over 100 flights due to a previous IAU work stoppage.
