The Taitaja2025 national vocational skills competition concluded in Turku on Thursday, where over 400 students from across Finland competed for medals in their respective trades. Karoliina Koskinen, a student at Ammattiopisto Livia, was named the overall top performer of the competition.

Koskinen earned the title of Taitajien Taitaja, “The Competitor of Competitors”, after excelling in the animal care category.

She will represent vocational education nationwide for the next year and receives the use of a fully electric Volvo EX30 for that period.

Taitaja2025 featured 47 skill categories, including five under the TaitajaPLUS label, which are tailored for students in need of special support. The competition took place from 5–8 May and was organised by Skills Finland in partnership with local education providers.

The event emphasised themes of sustainability, entrepreneurship, and workplace safety, with awards given to teams that integrated these values most effectively. This year’s recipients were:

  • Floral design for sustainable development

  • TaitajaPLUS restaurant and catering services for entrepreneurship

  • Transport logistics for safety and wellbeing at work

In addition to the main competitions, lower secondary students took part in Taitaja9, a light-hearted knowledge and skills contest. The winning team, Terävät naulat, came from Ilmarinen School.

Competition Director Petri Hörkkö thanked participants and supporters for their contribution to the atmosphere and success of the event.

“Taitaja2025 has come to a strong close and the country’s best young professionals have been recognised. Our thanks go to all competitors, coaches, partners, and guests for creating a truly positive Taitaja spirit. Let’s keep building a better future together,” Hörkkö said.
