Finland will tighten its requirements for family reunification starting next week, the Ministry of the Interior confirmed on Thursday. The changes, which take effect on 16 June, align with provisions of the EU Family Reunification Directive and introduce stricter age, residency and financial criteria.
Under the new rules, both spouses must be at least 21 years old to qualify for a family-based residence permit. This age condition does not apply to Finnish citizens.
