Helsinki welcomed the new year with a grand celebration at Kansalaistori Square, drawing approximately 75,000 attendees. The event featured family-friendly festivities and a star-studded evening concert.

The festivities began with the Skidit Disco, a family dance party that included performances by Windows95man and Sara Siipola.

Later in the evening, a larger concert entertained the crowds with performances by Mirella, Sara Siipola, and Anssi Kela. The countdown to midnight was marked by a dazzling pyrotechnic display, led by Windows95man. Helsinki Mayor Juhana Vartiainen addressed the crowd, wishing residents a happy new year and encouraging trust and renewal.

The event was peaceful and filled with enthusiasm. “This year’s concert brought together an audience equivalent to one and a half Olympic Stadiums,” said Stuba Nikula, CEO of the Helsinki Events Foundation. “The joy with which people embraced the new year was truly the highlight of the evening.”

Both the family disco and the evening concert were broadcast live by Yle, with recordings still available on Yle Areena.
