Nearly 1.7 million Finnish residents must check and, if necessary, correct their pre-filled tax returns by the end of today, according to the Finnish Tax Administration.
Taxpayers must ensure the information in their return is accurate and complete. Omissions or inaccuracies should be corrected through the Omavero online service. The current deadline applies to one-third of all wage earners, benefit recipients, and pensioners, who have been split into three groups with staggered deadlines throughout April.
The first deadline passed last week. The third group has until next week to review their data.
Failure to meet the deadline can result in a late filing penalty or a tax increase. The Tax Administration urges all taxpayers to submit any missing information even if their official deadline has already passed.
The agency also advised checking that the bank account number listed is current. It does not receive updates automatically, and outdated information may delay any refunds due.
